Daily NG2 coverage · 75-min response · Smart home & EV specialism
West Bridgford sits 3 miles south of central Nottingham across Trent Bridge. We work in NG2 every working day — most weeks 4–6 separate jobs — split between domestic rewire and consumer unit work in the older streets, EV charger installs across the wider commuter belt, and smart home installs on substantial refurbs and new builds.
The housing stock divides cleanly. Edwardian and inter-war family homes dominate Trent Bridge, Lady Bay, Trent Boulevard and the streets immediately south of the cricket ground. Compton Acres and parts of Edwalton are 1990s onward — generally well-wired but now 25+ years on, with consumer units now C2 on EICRs. Higher-spec contemporary builds sit across Edwalton and Gamston, where smart home, Lutron and integrated AV briefs come from.
West Bridgford is also the heaviest EV uptake area in our coverage. We install 2–4 home chargers a week across NG2 — pairing the install with a fuseboard upgrade is the most common combined job we quote here.

See eicr / electrical safety certificate detailsWe are known here for combined fuseboard + EV charger installs done on a single visit. Most West Bridgford homes need both, and pairing them saves £200–£400 over doing them separately. We typically quote and book the combined job inside a week.
On smart home work, we install Lutron and Loxone systems — not retrofit Wi-Fi switches. Substantial refurbs in Edwalton and Gamston deserve infrastructure that lasts a decade rather than a router refresh cycle. James personally specifies and commissions every smart system we take on.
1990s and 2000s plastic consumer units across Compton Acres and the newer parts of Edwalton are now coded C2 on every EICR. They were fine when fitted but the metal-enclosure requirement under 18th Edition has caught up with them. We replace 4–6 of these a week in NG2.
Surface-fitted DIY socket additions on rear-extension circuits are the second repeat issue. A previous owner has spurred sockets off ring finals during a kitchen extension, often without recalculating the load — flagged on EICR as C2 or FI, fixed with a recalculation and either a re-route or a new dedicated circuit.
EV-charger demand has grown faster than supply heads in some streets. We have had two cases this year where the DNO needed to upgrade the supply before a charger could be commissioned. We handle the DNO application end-to-end so the homeowner doesn't have to.
