    Terms & Conditions

    Last updated: 8 May 2026

    1. About these terms

These terms govern the work JBRC Ltd ("JBRC", "we", "us", "our") carries out for you. They apply alongside any specific written quote we issue. If anything in your written quote conflicts with these terms, the quote takes precedence.

    • Trading name: JBRC Ltd
    • Address: 18 The Ropewalk, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire NG1 5DT, United Kingdom
    • Phone: 0800 654 6583
    • Email: enquiries@jbrc-electrical.com

    2. Quotes

    • All quotes are issued in writing following a free site survey or photo-based assessment.
    • Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless we agree otherwise in writing.
    • We will only carry out work that is described in the quote you have accepted. Any additional work that you ask for, or that becomes necessary once we are on site, will be priced and agreed with you in writing before we proceed.
    • Where a survey reveals that the original scope is not safe, achievable, or compliant with BS 7671, we will tell you immediately and re-quote — you are under no obligation to proceed.

    3. Booking and deposits

    • For jobs over £1,500 we may ask for a deposit of up to 25% to secure your booking and order specialist materials.
    • Deposits are refundable in full up to 14 working days before the agreed start date.
    • Within 14 working days of the start date, deposits cover materials we have already ordered and engineer time we cannot reassign — refunds are calculated case by case and you'll always see the breakdown.

    4. Carrying out the work

    • All work is carried out to BS 7671 (current edition and amendments) by NICEIC-approved electricians.
    • Notifiable work under Part P is registered with NICEIC's Building Control notification system on your behalf.
    • We will leave the site clean. We chase, fill and make-good plaster ready for decoration; we do not paint, redecorate, lay flooring or carry out plastering beyond chase make-good unless this is specifically priced in your quote.
    • You agree to provide reasonable access, working light and a 13A power supply where one exists. If your premises is occupied during the work, we will agree a working pattern in advance to keep disruption to a minimum.

    5. Pricing, payment and VAT

    • All prices are quoted in pounds sterling and include VAT at the prevailing rate where applicable.
    • Payment is due within 7 days of the invoice date by bank transfer or card. We do not accept cash payments over £500.
    • Late payments may incur statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 for business customers.

    6. Guarantees

    • NICEIC Platinum Promise: notifiable installations are covered by a 6-year guarantee through NICEIC's Platinum Promise scheme, subject to NICEIC's published terms.
    • Workmanship guarantee: all our workmanship on non-notifiable accessories carries a 12-month guarantee.
    • Manufacturer warranty: hardware (consumer units, EV chargers, fire alarm panels, detectors) is covered by the manufacturer's published warranty period — typically 1–10 years depending on product. We register the warranty in your name where the manufacturer requires it.
    • Guarantees do not cover misuse, third-party alterations, fair wear and tear, damage from external causes (water, fire, lightning surges where surge protection was declined), or work carried out by others on top of our installation.

    7. Cancellation and consumer rights

    • Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, where you are a consumer and the contract is concluded off-premises (for example by phone or email), you have the right to cancel within 14 days without giving a reason.
    • If you ask us to start work within the 14-day cancellation period, you accept that you will be charged for any work performed up to the point of cancellation.
    • To cancel, email enquiries@jbrc-electrical.com or write to the address above.
    • Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

    8. Liability

    • We carry public liability insurance with full cover details available on request.
    • We accept liability for direct loss or damage caused by our negligence or breach of contract, up to the level of our public liability cover.
    • We do not accept liability for indirect or consequential losses (lost business, lost data, loss of opportunity) except where required by law.
    • Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

    9. Complaints procedure

If you're unhappy with any aspect of our work, please tell us straight away. We take complaints seriously and follow this published procedure:

    1. Within 24 hours: contact us by phone on 0800 654 6583 or email enquiries@jbrc-electrical.com with the subject line "Complaint".
    2. Within 5 working days: we acknowledge in writing and propose either an on-site re-attendance or an explanation of our position.
    3. Within 28 days: we aim to resolve all complaints either by remedying the work, agreeing a financial settlement, or providing a final written explanation.
    4. If you remain unhappy: you can escalate to NICEIC's Customer Complaints Scheme (NICEIC will investigate independently) at niceic.com/customer/complaints, or to Trading Standards via Citizens Advice.

    10. Force majeure

We are not liable for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, including extreme weather, supplier delays on key components, illness affecting our small team, or third-party network outages (DNO, manufacturer, NICEIC building control system). We will keep you informed and reschedule as quickly as possible.

    11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

    12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time — for example to reflect changes in BS 7671, NICEIC scheme rules or applicable law. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when changes were last made. The terms in force at the time of your written quote govern that quote.
